KELLY ROCKWELL
DVM
Head of the Zoological Companion Animal Medicine Department

Kelly Rockwell, DVM, is a highly skilled veterinarian with a passion for animal welfare and conservation. Kelly completed her undergraduate studies at Boston College in 2011, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Minor in Environmental Studies. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Illinois in 2017.

Growing up on a large property in Ohio, Kelly developed a deep love for animals and nature, which inspired her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. As a practicing DVM, Kelly enjoys working with a diverse range of species and often finds herself having to think outside of the box to provide the best care possible for each individual animal.

Kelly's professional interests include exotic medicine and surgery, herpetology, and zoonotic diseases. She has published numerous research papers in veterinary journals and currently serves on the executive board for the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians. Kelly is also Fear Free Certified in both small animal and avian care.

When not at the hospital, Kelly enjoys training for marathons, trying out new recipes, and spending time outdoors with her beloved golden retriever, Bowie, and her sassy cat named Raleigh. One of her life goals is to run all of the world marathon majors.
